Default Waht's better for pyromancer? Ranger or Monk?

I see people using both for a secondary profession, but what do you think is better? Ranger or Monk? And do you know of any good pyro builds, on this site or elsewhere?

Well do you want to heal or smite, or do you want to have the winter skill so you can do fire or ice damage?

Ranger isnt a really good secondary for Elementalists because ranger skills rely mainly on the Bow, which will cause you to spend your attributes in two secondary class attributes rather than one. Warrior/Ranger is different b/k you can invest in Wilderness and poison others with your sword and/or heal yourself.

EleMonks are good because you can be a good backup healer - you cant heal for quite the amount as a full monk, but you can heal a whole heck of a lot more times.

Personally, I like the EleMezmer build - you can deal a LOT of area damage with Fire/Domination, or you can steal energy when yours gets low. Eles are kinda hard to keep alive when you start hitting higher monster groups, so if you dont have a healer, bring at least two self-healing spells.

Keep in mind, you can always change your secondary proffession later in the game.

Well, ranger are actually quite good primary... most fire have longer recharge time or heavy energy... so either energizing wind or serpent quickness can help you to some extend...

of course, a mesemer can handle both of that too with the right skills... although you probably not going to get most of those skills until later.

it is quite hard to say... well, lets put it this way... if you go ranger, you would use ranger line to support your pyromancing... if you go monk, you will be switching from healing/protection type to offensive type... so to increase your pyromancing, ranger is probably better... but if u want to do a little of everything, monk is it. For PvE... monk anything is good...
